Called "Kill Me or Give Me My Freedom," the speech Pankhurst (played by Emily Blunt) delivers here (July 14, 1913, in London) preceded her delivery in America of her "Freedom or Death Speech" (a Gleeditions e-text). At a London racetrack, Emily Davison, had stepped into the path of a racehorse and died (why is uncertain—for women's suffrage?). The tragedy prompted this London speech and galvanized support for the women's vote (won in the US in 1920; the UK, in 1928).

England's Emmeline Pankhurst (performed by Bryonie Pritchard) delivers key extracts from her "freedom or death" speech on gaining the vote for women, delivered in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1913. Already jailed for her activism in the UK, she advises listeners on the way for women to gain the vote in the US (achieved in the UK in 1918, in the US in 1920).
